Australia Wildfires

Australia Wildfires
Today I will be interviewing the Prime Minister of Australia, Scott Morrison. I will be asking him questions about himself, what his priorities are, and other questions about the wildfires.
 Let’s get started:
A.W: Hi Mr. Morrison, my name is Alexandra Ward. Today I will be asking you questions about yourself, and what is going on in your community. So, tell us some information about you.
S.M: Hi Alexandra, so my name is Scott Morrison, and I have been the prime minister of Australia since 2018. I was born May 13, 1968, in Waverley, Australia.I studied at the University of New South Wales, majoring in economic geography. After graduating, I worked as a National policy and research manager for property council of Australia from 1989 to 1995. I then moved into tourism, serving as Deputy Chief Executive of Australia Tourism. After, I then became the Prime Minister of Australia, and leader of the liberal party since August 2018. Previously I served in the cabinet from 2013 to 2018, including being Treasurer.
A.W: What are your Priorities for your community?
S.M: My priorities are simple. I want to keep our economy strong, even with so much going on, keeping the people of the community safe from all these wildfires, and most importantly keeping Australians together.
A.W: How did you react when the fires first started?
S.M: At first I was in shock with everything happening, and knew I had to take quick actions. The people of the community were very unhappy with me, and I had a lot of snowballing anger thrown at me. As a politician, my goal is to connect with the voters, to help them through a crisis. Leadership is about both the bad times and the good times, and its my job to stay focused on my community, and make sure to help make our community safer again.
A.W: What is causing the fires, and why are they so bad?
S.M: Now every year there is a fire season during our summer, due to the hot, dry weather, making it easy for blazes to start and spread. Natural causes are usually to blame, like lightning strikes in dryer areas. Although, humans could be to blame also. The NSW police have charged at least 24        people for starting bushfires. The fires in Australia are always dangerous, killing numerous amounts of citizens. Right now we our going through one of our worst droughts in decades, even in December we broke the record for the highest nationwide average temperature. Also strong winds have make the fires and smoke spread more rapidly.
A.W: And lastly, what is being done?
S.M: Our state and federal authorities have been working to combat this fire crisis for months. There are more than 2,000 firefighters working in NSW alone, and more support is on the way. In addition to that help we also have US, Canada, and New Zealand firefighters. Also our federal government has decided to send in military assistance, like army personnel, Air Force aircraft, and navy cruisers for the evacuation, and clean-up efforts.
A.W: Thank you for speaking with me today! I hope that your community gets better soon.
S.M: My pleasure! Thank you for having me.
