Paulina Nieliwocki

On May 20th I got the opportunity to be apart of a different and beautiful conference. While conferencing with Paulina Nieliwocki, the owner of Blue Jasmine Florist we learned that she had originally went to Villanova University to become a translator, but her love for flowers had changed what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She always loved flowers, so she decided that she wanted to give the flower business a try, where she has had an extreme amount of success from it. She told us so many factors of how to make a bouquet pop from the different kids of colors involved, to the different types of plants, and greenery involved. It was nice to hear how the flower business works, why bouquets are so expensive, how to martini flowers, and so on.

Natasha De La Rosa (Social Worker)

Last week we had a conference with Natasha De La Rosa, who is a licensed Social worker. Right now she is working in a nursing home during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the conference she had told us how her work had drastically changed since the outbreak of this pandemic. Her purpose is to inform other about the importance of social distancing. I sympathized with her because her whole family, including her, the virus. She empathized on the importance of staying at home, and highlighted the effectiveness of this anti-conroe measure. None of us can stop this pandemic with the snap of our fingers. It starts with all of us kids, not going out even though we would all like to. This virus is not a joke, and we all want everything back to normal.

Gelati

Geltai by Mike Guerrieo is located in Caldwell New Jersey. The chef, Mike Guerrieo, was named #7 gelato chef in the world by the Gelato Festival world Masters, which is such a huge accomplishment. The Gelati menu has 30 flavors of ice cream to chose from,16 flavors of Gelato to chose from, and 6 dairy-free (sorbet) flavors to chose from. His award winning flavor is Blueberry Basil, which is where he gets his logo from. During our conference he told us how he became such a huge part in making his own business. As a young kid to stay out of trouble he helped his grandmother in the kitchen, as he got older and started to work at Gelottis he grew a passion for ice cream, and wanted to purse his own  business with his wife. Also during the conference I had asked if he would like his kids(when he has them) to take over. He had said he had hopped that when he does one of his kids would. I think that is such an amazing thing to hope for, and I hope one of his kids do end up taking ove...

Phil cuzzi

Phill Cuzzi MLB umpire came in to talk to us about his life as an umpire, and what he has done. As a softball player, who’s dad loves baseball, and brother plays and loves it, it was such a great/interesting conference. How many people can say that an MLB umpire came in to talk to us. Not many. We asking him about some of his worst/best experiences, and how he knew he wanted to become an umpire. Recently, as he was umpiring a game for the New York Yankees, he threw out Bret Gardner. It was amazing to get a deeper understand at what actually happens at a higher level of sports.

Stay-At-Home

Top Definition Senior Year:  The very last year of high school. Where student pull pranks, skip, have prom, and graduation. Last chance to not care before stepping out into the real world. Last homecomings. Last chance to play sports for some of us. Last chance to show people who you are. The year where you go all out. The seniors  plan  their  senior skip day  for every  month . On March 13, 2020 Mr. Abate announced on the loudspeaker that we will be starting online schooling for two weeks. When I first heard this I was filled with excitement. Two weeks was great! I would get to catch up on some sleep, let my leg heal, and just relax. All those thoughts were wrong. Two weeks has now turned into longer, not knowing when we will be going back. Everything is now hitting, and starting to become a reality. The reality that everything I was waiting to experience during my senior year, I won't be able to experience. I know for myself I can say this pande...

Matthew Colacino

Matthew Colacino is an engineering graduate student at Stevens Institute, and he also practices Muay Thai, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, and Taekwondo. During our conference he talked to us about him having ADHD, and how he could have either went on medicine, or taken up Jiu Jitsu. Listening to Matthew talk about this was not only inspiring, but a better outlook of a tough situation. Most students, and parents turn straight to medicine, and now for some cases it might be the best thing, but Matthew didn't want to go straight to medicine. It is so inspiring to see that someone can take a dark problem., and turn it around into something that they have a passion for, while getting through such a tough situation. I had a blast listening to his stories an experiences while he was fighting.
